What you’ll need

  • downloaded Christmas Postcard images: #001-PCH-021.jpg for card front #001-PCH-022 for inside verse
  • computer and inkjet printer
  • photo paper
  • 5" x 7" card blank, flecked white or ivory
  • optional: photo protectant, Preserve It! (Krylon®)
  • red velveteen paper
  • metallic red paint
  • gold foil banding, ribbon, or sticker border
  • Craft Bond™ Extra Strength Glue Stick (Elmer’s®)
  • photo stickers (Fiskars®)
  • paper edgers, deckle design
  • scissors
  • craft knife
  • glitter glue, gold
  • ruler

Please note: the product brands shown in parenthesis ( ) were used for this example but you can certainly substitute any similar product to achieve similar results.

 

Steps

1 Scale 021 image to 110% and the verse portion of 022 image to 100% and print them out. Let ink dry, then spray with protectant if desired.

2 Carefully trim both images using deckle edgers. Edge verse with metallic red paint and go over oval border with gold glitter glue (Fig. 1). Let dry.

3 Affix foil banding or other border material to front of 5 x 7 card at top and bottom edges. (Fig. 2)

4 Trim red velveteen paper to 6-1/2” high by 5” wide and attach to card front. Affix postcard image centered to card front and verse to inside of card (Fig. 3).

TIP

When printing onto photo paper, take a little time to arrange several images to fill the sheet and avoid waste. Save unused images for future projects.
